Disciples 1: Sacred Lands - Legion of the Damned

Legion of the Damned walkthrough

Play as Warrior Lord for free healing.
Use Warrior as main hero and as secondaries. They fly and do not die.
Mage could be useful to use staffs and scrolls but only at the end game.

Focus on Big Demon units. They will rule at the end.

Chapter 1 - Map Lands Aflame

Map:
  • For army:
    • Possessed
    • Gargoyle (150 life, 300 in city)
      • Marble Gargoyle (300 life, 750 in city)
      • Cheap healing due to armor.
  • Spells: Summons:
      • protect your heroes
      • weakens enemy cities and lairs
  • Do not capture north city (Bruthen) before gathering all items.
    • It will give too much land and end chapter.
    • Defend the north path from your capitol.
  • Attack south to city of Suithar.
    • Get a second Warrior Hero to swap wounded units.
      • Rename him as you like. This will be the main hero.
        • New name 
    • Get rod hero for gold main to the south.
      • Break rod to not get land.
  • Then west towards Wighen City.
    • Set defense here and block enemy heroes coming from capitol.
For next level you need:
  • Buy another Warrior hero as your main.
    • Rename him for easier recognition.
    • Level up to level 3.
      • Banner bearer.
      • Leadership.
  • Vithar's Ichor Potion, +10% damage, ruins at south corner.
  • Banner of Speed, +10% initiative, buy for 1000 at shop
  • Staff of Protection - 360 gold,
  • One of:
    • Staff of Thunder - 125 gold
    • Scrolls: touch of Mortis, summon Valkyrie - 120 gold
    • Silver Ring, Runestone, Rune Blade - 100 gold
    • Tome of Air - 80 gold

Chapter 2 - The Sacrificial Blade

  • Army:
    • Possesed -> Anti Paladin
      • dmg 75 hp 220
    • Devil -> Molloch
      • dmg 110 hp 370
    • Cultist -> Demonologist (if there is forward space) 
      • dmg 45* hp 110
    • Fiend
      • dmg 60 hp 260
    • Use 3 Cultists for starting army. They will outperform enemy shooters and not die and level up.
    • As secondary heroes use Duke with Devil and Possessed. High health allows them to survive battles and spells.
  • Round 1 - rush east to sell your items at Allyna the alchemist.
    • Next capture, Betrygen south of the alchemist. It is easy and has a gold mine.
      Grumarg city is quite strong and having gold mine is more important.
    • Items you have sold at Allyna are enough for a new Hero, the Duke. You do not need Rod Bearer for long.
      • Second target is Ruby x2 + Bronze Ring x2, north of Allyna. Total worth 600gp.
  • Let your main Hero capture Grumarg and then head east. Capturing Kaskar, Lufthon Fort, and finally Rossmiel.
    • From Rossmiel you block Mountain clans. Remember their hero type.
      • Red one is weak, Rod bearer.
      • The melee has a shield.
      • Mage is easily recognizable by his staff. Note that when thief kills him on the water - when they try to reach Lufthon Fort, his army will turn back and return very slowly.
    • Your main need to wander here until you get another Duke. But you can clear a path to and capture Tyrriella while waiting.
    • Also buy a rod bearer here, he can omit Tyrriella island from the north. Go by stream on east map edge and take gold mine near Mellotronburg.
      • One west from scenario target city.
      • Death mana crystal on island north from Empire capitol 
    • Take some effort to get healing and Ice shield from Frobenius Tower - west from Mountain Clans. And non inferno spells from Izonius Tower - north from Mellotronburg.
  • Second hero stays near capitol and Grumarg to protect from Empire. 
    • Use Hellhound Illusion (25 mana) to scout empire lands. 
      • The Ai uses Living Armor (200 mana) to kill it. The trade is good and you uncover the map.
      • Same trick works against Mountains Clans with Beliarh Illusion (50 mana).
        • Use it until they stop casting Valkyrie (150+150 mana)
    • After you clear around capitol, attack Empire and take Connarth.
    • You need another hero for Dharnter city as he will stay there forever.
      • Empire casts Living Armor against it, which is good to level Cultists.
      • Hide your Hero in second line if wounded.
  • As you blocked AI in their capitols (round 60!!!), you can clear the map.
  • For next map you want:
    • Main hero at level 5.
      • pathfinding + leadership (5 units total)
    • Highfather's Potion, +15% health for your main. Ghoul's Lair, north of Connarth (west of Empire).
    • Potion of Fortune, *1,1 chance to hit. Antique Template, east corner.
    • Banner of resistance +20 armor. At Dragon Lair, northwest from Connarth.
    • Banner of protection +10 armor. Hindu's Shop south of scenario target city. (30 armor is +42.8% life.)
    • Help of Purity - sell for 600 gold at next map.

Chapter 3 - An Accursed Birthright

  • Army - Gargoyles for main hero.
    • Devil + possessed for secondary
  • Round 1 - Buy Gargoyles and a devil
      • Gargoyle with +30 banners armor have 70 total, which is 333 life at start.
      • Marble Gargoyle will have 750
      • They will perfectly protect your cultist from archers.  
    • clear peasants, soaking damage on a gargoyle.
    • in capitol, swap wounded gargoyle for a berserker
    • attack Imperial Ranger, right from two ship east from your capitol. This is an active enemy hero. 
  • Round 2 - Get your healed Gargoyle from capitol and buy another one.
    • Leave Devil and Berserker for secondary hero.
    • Pickup sack with restoration potion.
    • Attack spear on your way south.
  • Round 3 - Kill angels
    • Clear Fuenne Castle outskirts.
  • Round 4 - Upgrade Cultists to Sorcerers (Dark Ritual)
    • capture Fuenne Castle
    • ignore neutral enemies and rush west to imperial city of Turhan
      • you cannot leave them on your back.
  • Round 5 - Ignore neutral enemies and rush against
    • There is a Pegas Knight hero wandering around, try to kill both him and capture the city. 
  • Round 6 - Sell your artifacts and scrolls at Dhamar's Shop (NE from Turhan)
    • Upgrade Gargoyles in capitol.
    • Bypass thugs and capture City of Thugs.
    • Buy Baroness at City of Thugs. Let her sell all valuable items obtained there.
      • There is Imperial Crown (1000 gp)
      • Keep her move left
    • Buy Helper hero at Thugs - Devil + Posessed. 
      • Clear thugs Next to city.
      • Buy him new units for wounded ones.
      • Clear another thugs south of Thugs city.
    • Let Baroness carry wounded unit to Thugs City.
      • Upgrade city and put your main hero there for healing.
    • Buy Secondary Duke hero at capitol.
      • Take Devil and Berserker you left there.
      • Let him go north over water to kill lizards protecting Fire Mana Crystal.
  • In following rounds, let Capitol hero seek for gold.
  • Start casting hellhound illusions to scout the area.
  • Your main and his helper let ignore neutral units and rush against AI players. There is only one snake shaped path to them, but you must focus on the way.
    • North-East-East - Koriniel city - you will encounter Mortis player here. 
      • Helper protects city... 
      • main goes north to - CITY1 - Mortis outpost castle.
    • South East - Surgen City - crossroads to Empire West. But let's take Mortis first.
      • Be careful as you are attacked from two sides.
      • Fortify Helper hero.
      • Take out Mortis forces with Main and block them in first city to the south. 
    • Battle against Empire - it is long as they have 4 cities and ton of gold for armies.
  • For next level you need:
    • Main hero at level 7.
      • natural armor (+20 armor), might (+25 dmg)
    • Quicksilver Potion, +10% initiative for your main. South East edge of map.
    • Banner of resistance +20 armor. From previous.
    • Banner of protection +10 armor. From previous.
    • Either:
      • Imperial Crown - sell for 1000 gold at next map. City of thugs.
      • Banner of Might - sell for 600 gp. Buy at Dhamars shop. East from map center.

Chapter 4 - An Accursed Birthright

  • Army
    • Devil->Beast is your main target, but Gargoyles will carry your main hero like end level creatures.
  • Round 1 - Take Sorcerer and your items. Buy two Gargoyles, leave devil for secondary hero.
    • Main hero at the center! 
    • Bypass standalone creatures and go north and capture Fendlik city - it will absorb a gold mine.
  • Round 2 - This could be tricky, but I managed to do it.
    • Go east, omit Spearman and attack Heirmic. Dwarf hero guarding the path. 
    • Hide over water - dwarves do not fly. 
  • Following rounds.
  • First task is to beat dwarves at Helm Fort
    • Upgrade gargoyles.
    • Try to sell valuables artifacts and scrolls - east of the dwarfen city.
    • Buy second Duke.
  • Next is to block the Imperial capitol to the west.
    • Your secondary hero will stay at Umeria forever. 
    • Empire does not have many resources and even weak hero will block them.
    • Buy a third hero to level up and help your main selling items.
  • With your main rush against the dwarves.
    • Bypass lone standing neutrals.
    • Capture cities only.
    • Cast Hellhound Illusion behind mountains to scout.
    • Use thief to steal spells from Tezonius' Tower.
    • Olmena city defence is very strong. Keep some potions against it.
  • Jorguma is the last city before meeting dwarves (round 60).
    • Defend there and scout with illusions until it is safe to move forward.
    • Buy another hero to catch thieves.
    • Buy devils to level them up in place of gargoyles. 
    • Cast Hellhound illusion to soak their mana from Valkyries and to scout.
    • Wait till their forces weaken - round 80+.
    • Jump to Alalris Keep city with Chant of Hasting - spell stollen from Tezonius Tower.
